Crazy Horse Memorial

A few facts:

Crazy Horse was born on Rapid Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota about 1842 and he died  at age 35 from being stabbed in the back by an American soldier while under a flag of truce.

The face is 87.5 feet tall. The horses head will be 22 stories high. The overall work will be 563 ft high x 641 ft. in length.

When you think about fairness, count the government out, these people really were violated.

Here we see Marilyn and a 1/34 Scale Sculpture with the true monument 1/4 mile distant in the background.

The effort is enormous. The sculptor, Korczak Ziolkowski began the work in 1948, at the request of Chief Standing Bull. The project was essentially unfunded .

Korczak work until his death in 1982. Family members continue the work. Funding is now somewhat more available, but still private.

Here a close up from the foot of the mountain.
Lastly, a night shot.
