The home of Marshall Space Center, formerly known as Redstone Arsenal.

Redstone Arsenal was the Army missle development center during the 2nd World War. Following the war, the need for the weapons development center was non-existant. The US government being generous made it into a commercial automobile factory to give the locals a replacement industry. The auto factory failed, that's probably good.

About 100 German scientists, lead by Werner Von Braun were invited to come to the US and further our missle program. We all know the result, Von Braun is considered the be the father of the missle technology that brough the US to the moon.

The Saturn series of rockets were developed and produced at this missle laboratory.
