Geysers in Yellowstone National Park, WY.

Echinus Geyser

Echinus Geyser in the Norris Geyser Basin was putting on a good show. This geyser reached about 15 feet and made some interesting patterns.  

Old Faithful

Old Faithful Geyser in the Lower Loop Geyser Basin gave us a nice show, but the wind changed to come toward us and made photo op's non-existent. 

The geyser is produced when water seeps down through the porous rock layers to rock heated by magma bodies below. The superheated water rises back toward the surface through cracks. When the superheated water reaches a constriction it flashes to steam which forces any water above it to geyser eruption.
